We have had success with small groups for the past couple of years. Starting out the enthusiasm and attendance was very good. This past summer the small groups were canceled and currently some are doing community projects. I love small groups and as Royce said, it is great with Holy Spirit led people. You really [...]

Hmm… a new recipe “Crispy Rotisserie Blackened Chicken”. Somehow I think it might be a while before you are invited to be on Food Network.
Hope the next time is better!

Wow!! You have a lot on your plate and you are in my prayers.
Giving it to God is a very wise choice.
Trying to control other people’s thoughts and actions is like beating a dead horse; pretty soon you grow very tired and discouraged.

I like my husband, “un-manscaped, thank you very much.
I guess those who ‘manscape’ have their reasons.

I am discovering , admitting, confessing some things about myself lately, partly through my studies and more importantly I believe I am being guided to look at myself by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. I am admitting to myself, and now to you also that I am “gulp” a long way from complete surrender. I pray that I [...] -
I like your smiles, it’s like counting your blessings.

In my family there are a lot of ‘builders’. My dad was a carpenter as well as several of my brothers and their sons. I can remember many times looking at a piece of land being prepared for construction and watching the foundation being poured and then watching the framework begin. At that stage many people [...] -
This reminds me of Ezekiel’s vision in Ezekiel 37-“The Valley of Dry Bones” The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and [...]

Life is full of little things we don’t talk about. I went to Ladies Bible Class, then spent the rest of the day with my mom, playing Scrabble. It was a great day of encouragement and relaxation after a busy weekend. We had potluck on Sunday, worship was wonderful and then we went to our [...]

Sounds like we had some of the same teachers. I’m so thankful I no longer try to confine God to a book.

Do you struggle against what your conscience is telling you to do? Do you wrestle with it, listen to it or ignore it? There have been times in my life when I wished I could “turn mine off.” Since I couldn’t do that I tried drowning it out with drugs and alcohol. Not that I have put [...] -

Patrick, thank you so much for this excellent article and especially for explaining the meaning of ‘covenant.’ I had that Roman view pounded into my head for more years than I care to remember and I was ‘guilted’ by it to the point of misery and feelings of hopelessness. Still in the back of my [...]

Beautiful thoughts!
One of the best books I’ve ever read on sheep/shepard is Phillip Keller’s “A Shepard Looks at Psalm 23.” It is a very small book, only 142 pages and it absolutely worth reading.

I think it is normal to think about death, especially as we get older. Larry and I will both be 62 this year and I often think of the “threescore and ten” as the KJV refers to it. I know none of us knows the day or the hour, but 62 is getting nearer to [...]

I mentioned a while back we have had a guest teacher for July and he will continue on through August. He is amazing and I could listen to him all day. God has blessed him with the great ability to teach. It feels like ‘one on one’ and his classes have been remarkable. Today I will [...] -
There are so many songs that bring me to tears and the more I try not to cry the more I cry.
I will never comprehend God’s grace but I am ever so thankful for it.
Mending fences…really awesome!

I feel your pain and I’m glad you handled it the way you did. Better to have a cooling off period, gather your thoughts and then have the conversation (as Greg mentioned). Then you can say what’s on your heart and not have to regret what you said. I’m thinking of the song, ‘Angry Words.’ [...]

Promises…we’ve likely all made them or been asked to “Promise” at some time in our lives. The promises we make are always conditional. Clean your room, eat your peas, do your laundry, be a good boy or girl. The list is endless, but to receive the reward of the promise the receiver has to perform an action. [...] -
Happy Birthday to Jackson! He is Fwee today and one of our daughters is Fwee with an eight after it today and it doesn’t even seem possible. I know the joy and love of which you speak, I think grandparents are given an extra measure of it. I like the image of angels peeking expectantly [...]
